The Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme is an established national initiative, funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and managed by the Irish Research Council. A new national research agency, Taighde Éireann/Research Ireland, has been established by the government. The agency will amalgamate the work of the Irish Research Council and Science Foundation Ireland. The full operation of Taighde Éireann will be enabled over the coming period.

Eligibility Criteria for Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Program:
- All applicants have to complete and pass an initial eligibility
- screening quiz on the online application system before starting their application form.
- Along with this quiz, other eligibility requirements should also be fulfilled.
- If the Irish Research Council finds that the applicant does not fulfill the eligibility criteria at any phase of the application, the application and the award will be cancelled.
- Applicants should know English language.
