This scholarship is open to foreign students who study or plan to study in a Japanese graduate school for a doctoral or master’s degree. Applications can be submitted from abroad if applicants are accepted to a Japanese graduate school. All nationalities and research fields are welcome. Applicants may directly apply to the foundation without pre-selection by the university.

Benefits of the Hanjo Foundation Scholarship in Japan 2024:
- The scholarship amount of Yan 210,000 per month is given for a 1-2 years degree.
- The scholarship amount of Yan 190,000 per month is given for 3 years of the degree.
- The scholarship amount of Yan 160,000 per month is given for a 4-5-year degree.
- The opportunity to participate in the conference and other events organized by the foundation.
- The traveling grant is provided to attend the conferences.
Eligibility Criteria of the Hanjo Foundation Scholarship 2024 in Japan:
- You must not hold Japanese citizenship.
- You must have enrolled yourself in September or October 2024 at graduation in Japan.
- Students, enrolled in the professional graduate school can apply only if they can submit the research plan.
- Your enrollment duration should be more than 12 months.
- For a master’s degree, the age should be 30 years.
- For PhD degree, the age should be 35 years.
- You must be passionate about serving your home country shortly.
- You must have a good understanding of the international friendship.
- You must be able to carry a basic conversation in the Japanese language.
