Best Idea Innovation (Junior Level): Youth Innovations Addressing Global Challenges

Osaka, Japan — Youth Break the Boundaries (YBB) has officially announced the winners of the Best Idea Innovation (Junior Level) as part of the Japan Youth Summit (JYS) 2026, held from 11–14 May 2026 in Osaka, Japan. This award recognizes youth teams that presented innovative solutions to respond to social, environmental, and educational challenges.

1st Place – Group 8: Craytion

The first prize was awarded to Group 8 for Craytion, an eco-friendly crayon innovation made from used cooking oil. The project addresses household oil waste while offering a safer crayon alternative for children.

Craytion is produced using natural ingredients, natural colorants, and aromatherapy elements that support sensory activities, including for children with special needs. This innovation shows how waste can be transformed into an educational product with real value, while promoting more sustainable consumption practices.

2nd Place – Group 14: Socio HEARTH

The second position went to Group 14 with Socio HEARTH, an educational board game designed to build empathy and reduce bullying among teenagers.

Through interactive gameplay, participants are encouraged to understand different perspectives and develop awareness of the impact of bullying. The innovation is strengthened by the #PlayWithSocioHEARTH campaign and has received positive feedback from school counselors and student testers.

3rd Place – Group 17: Back2School

Group 17 secured third place with Back2School, a program that helps young people in Myanmar regain access to education after being affected by the pandemic, political conflict, and natural disasters.

Using a GED-based learning platform, the program provides digital learning materials, mentor support, and flexible education pathways. Back2School aims to reopen learning opportunities and support a better future for Myanmar’s young generation.

Youth Innovation for Global Solutions

Through Best Idea Innovation (Junior Level), Japan Youth Summit 2026 highlights the ability of young people to deliver real and meaningful solutions to today’s global challenges.

From sustainable waste management and anti-bullying education based on empathy, to restoring access to education in crisis-affected regions, all winning projects prove that impactful innovation can grow from care for local and global communities.

Youth Break the Boundaries congratulates all winners and participants for their inspiring contributions. It is hoped that the innovations emerging from Japan Youth Summit 2026 will continue to grow and create broader benefits for communities around the world.
