Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) | Fully Funded

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD), sponsored by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, offers Indonesian students the chance to study in the United States for one semester. This prestigious program is designed to help students enhance their leadership skills, engage in academic coursework, and participate in community service. Here are the key details about this life-changing opportunity.

Program Overview

Global UGRAD provides full scholarships for one semester of non-degree academic study at a U.S. college or university. During their time abroad, participants will:

  • Live on-campus alongside American peers
  • Complete 20 hours of community service
  • Enroll in full-time undergraduate coursework, including one required US Studies course

The program emphasizes leadership development through academic experiences and professional growth activities. Participants will also attend an end-of-program workshop in Washington, D.C., where they will network with fellow students and prepare for re-entry into their home countries.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet specific criteria to apply for Global UGRAD. These requirements include:

  • Indonesian citizenship
  • Over 18 years old by August 2025
  • Enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program (S1/D4) in Indonesia, with at least one semester completed by January 2025
  • At least one full academic year remaining after May 2026 at their home institution
  • Demonstrated leadership potential through academic work, extracurricular activities, and community involvement
  • English proficiency (TOEFL ITP 500, TOEFL iBT 61, IELTS 6.0, or Duolingo English Test 95)
  • Commitment to return to Indonesia after completing the program

Grant Benefits

Global UGRAD participants receive extensive support, which includes:

  • International travel coverage
  • Full tuition
  • Room and board
  • Accident and sickness insurance
  • Monthly stipend
  • Funding for books

Ineligible Applicants

The program has specific eligibility restrictions. Applicants who fall into any of the following categories are not eligible:

  • U.S. citizens or permanent residents
  • Individuals currently enrolled in U.S. academic programs
  • Applicants who have participated in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs for over six weeks without fulfilling the home residency requirement
  • Employees of U.S. missions abroad and their immediate family members
  • Current World Learning and AMINEF employees and their immediate family members

Applicants should ensure they meet all eligibility requirements before submitting their application.

Program Timeline and Application Process

Global UGRAD participants will be placed at U.S. universities either in the:

  • Fall 2025 semester (August to December 2025) or
  • Spring 2026 semester (January to May 2026)

The application deadline is December 15, 2024, at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (UTC-05:00). Applicants must:

  • Submit an online application
  • Provide necessary documents, including:
  • Two letters of reference (one from a major lecturer, one from another lecturer, employer, or community supervisor)
  • A photocopy of their Indonesian ID card (KTP)
  • Their latest university transcript (in both Indonesian and English)

Once the application is submitted, candidates must email their English proficiency test scores to AMINEF at infofulbright_ind@aminef.or.id, with the subject “[Your Full Name] – Completed Global UGRAD Online Form.” Remember to submit your application before the December 15, 2024
