IELTS VOCABULARY

IELTS vocabulary is crucial for success in the exam. Enhancing your lexical range can significantly boost your scores, especially in the Writing and Speaking sections. Focus on diverse words, idiomatic expressions, and academic vocabulary to showcase proficiency. Additionally, mastering synonyms and antonyms aids in paraphrasing, a valuable skill in IELTS tasks. Regular practice with authentic materials and incorporating new words into your writing and speaking practice can help solidify your vocabulary skills.

 DONT LEARN LISTS

Learning lists of words will not help you in the IELTS test. You need to learn words within their natural context i.e. sen- tences and paragraphs.

BUY A NOTEBOOK

You will need special vocabu- lary notebook to note down all your new words and to review them in the future.

PICK A BOOK

Find any book that you are in- terested in. It’s very important that you are passionate about the topic. So you won’t quit and learning is much easier when you enjoy it.

FIND NEW WORDS

Start reading normally and find words that you don’t know. Try to guess what they mean from context and then note them down.

NOTE THEM DOWN

Make a note of all the different things that will help you re- member them, including, collo- cations, synonyms and pro- nunciation.

REVIEW

Review your new words one week later and then one month later. Soon you have a book full of hundreds of new words.
