YBB – International youth programs are becoming increasingly popular, especially those that provide participants with opportunities to learn, build networks, and take part in activities abroad. Japan has become one of the destinations attracting significant attention, offering international experiences while allowing young people to explore the country’s culture and youth environment.
The growing interest in such programs has also led to more information about youth opportunities circulating across social media and the internet. Alongside this information, there have also been cases involving “fraud,” “scams,” as well as websites and accounts using the names of particular programs. One such case involves the Japan Youth Summit (JYS).
On May 16, 2024, the account @japanyouthsummit posted a warning stating, “BEWARE OF FRAUD AND SCAM IN THE NAME OF JAPAN YOUTH SUMMIT!” Global Youth Ambassador (GYA) stated that the Japan Youth Summit was organized “under Global Youth Ambassador only” and referred to other accounts using the name Japan Youth Summit as “not ours.”

On June 27, 2025, GYA posted another warning titled “SCAM ALERT – PLEASE READ.” The organization stated that there were “fake websites and unofficial accounts claiming to be ‘Japan Youth Summit’” and claimed that “japanyouthsummit.com is NOT us.”
However, Youth Break the Boundaries (YBB) has organized the Japan Youth Summit since 2024. This raises questions about claims labeling certain accounts, websites, and organizers as “fake” and calls for the matter to be examined more carefully.
Japan Youth Summit Trademark Registered to Youth Break the Boundaries
According to the Trademark Certificate issued by the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, Japan Youth Summit is registered under Registration Number IDM001273026, with an application date of May 17, 2024. The trademark holder listed on the certificate is Muhammad Aldi Subakti, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Youth Break the Boundaries.
Japan Youth Summit Trademark Certificate
The trademark is registered as part of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and is used in the organization of the Japan Youth Summit by Youth Break the Boundaries (YBB).
YBB states that it has never granted Global Youth Ambassador any rights, permission, license, or authorization to use the Japan Youth Summit trademark or organize a program under that name. Therefore, GYA’s use of the Japan Youth Summit name and trademark without authorization constitutes unauthorized and illegal use of a protected trademark. This is not merely a matter of branding or differences in identity, but an act that may violate applicable trademark laws and carry legal consequences.
Track Record of the Program
Youth Break the Boundaries organized its first Japan Youth Summit in 2024.
The program has documentation of its activities, publications, participant information, and event schedules. The Japan Youth Summit was held again by YBB the following year in Japan.
YBB also has supporting organizational documents and certifications, including certification from Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia (Perpusnas).

If It Is Called a “Scam,” What Is the Basis?
Statements involving terms such as “fake,” “fraud,” and “scam” are serious claims because they can affect an organizer’s reputation and influence the decisions of prospective participants.
What is the basis of GYA’s authority to organize the Japan Youth Summit? Is there any permission or license from the trademark holder? If so, in what form was that permission granted? What is the basis for labeling another party as “fake,” “fraud,” or “scam”? And what is the basis for claiming that japanyouthsummit.com is not the official Japan Youth Summit website?
If Global Youth Ambassador claims to have the authority to use the Japan Youth Summit name and organize a program under that name, the basis for that authority should be made available to the public. This includes the legal basis for organizing the program, ownership or rights to use the trademark, as well as any permission or license from the trademark holder.
If such authority cannot be demonstrated, the allegations of “fake,” “fraud,” and “scam” made by Global Youth Ambassador could raise questions about GYA itself. If GYA cannot provide evidence of its rights, permission, license, or authorization to use the name and organize the Japan Youth Summit, then on what basis does GYA label other parties as “fake,” “fraud,” or “scam”? If the basis for those allegations also cannot be verified, it is reasonable for the public to ask further questions: could the allegations of “fake,” “fraud,” and “scam” made by GYA potentially point to an issue on GYA’s own side?
YBB does not state that GYA has been proven to commit fraud or operate a scam. YBB is only asking GYA to provide clear and verifiable evidence to substantiate the allegations it has made publicly.
Check Before You Register
Before joining an international youth program, prospective participants can take several simple steps:
Who is the organizer?
Make sure the organization and the person or entity responsible for the program are clearly identified.
Who owns the trademark?
Check the trademark status and the legal basis for using the program’s name.
What is the program’s track record?
Look for documentation and publications from previous activities.
Where does the registration information come from?
Make sure the website, social media accounts, email addresses, and payment contacts are connected to the same organizer.
These steps can help participants make decisions based on information that can be independently verified, rather than relying solely on labels such as “official,” “fake,” or “scam.”
