Basalt, CO – The Steadman Clinic has announced its 2025-2026 Athletic Training Internship program. Applications are open until March 7, 2025. This full-time internship provides a unique opportunity for new or recent graduates in athletic training to gain hands-on experience in a world-class orthopedic clinic.
About the Internship
This program differs from the clinic’s residency program and focuses on practical experience. Interns will develop clinical skills, work with professional orthopedic specialists, and assist with patient care. The internship offers a strong foundation for those pursuing careers in sports medicine, orthopedics, or secondary school athletics.

- Position: Athletic Training Intern
- Compensation: $57,000 per year
- Duration: June 2025 – June 2026
- Location: Basalt, CO (with travel to other locations and outreach events)

- Reports to: Director of Athletic Training
Responsibilities
Interns will work closely with physicians, surgeons, and athletic trainers. They will provide medical care for athletes in high schools and sports organizations. Their duties will include patient education, injury evaluation, and orthopedic treatment.
Clinic Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with patient care and office procedures
- Document patient history, physical exams, and treatments
- Apply and remove orthopedic casts, splints, and braces
- Help organize clinic operations for efficiency
High School & Sports Medicine Coverage
- Provide injury prevention and treatment for athletes
- Offer emergency care and first aid
- Manage concussion protocols and rehabilitation programs
- Organize pre-participation physicals
Community Outreach & Marketing
- Teach sports medicine courses in high schools
- Assist with student athletic trainer mentorship
- Represent the clinic at marketing events and symposiums
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree in athletic training preferred; Bachelor’s degree accepted
- BOC certification required
- Colorado DORA Athletic Training License required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- NPI number required
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must pass a background check
