In addition to a monthly scholarship allowance, recipients can participate in conferences and other activities organized by the Foundation. Applicants are also expected to have basic Japanese language skills and a commitment to contributing to their home country after completing their studies.

Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive a monthly scholarship based on the length of their degree program:
- ¥230,000 per month for 1–2 year programs
- ¥210,000 per month for 3-year programs
- ¥180,000 per month for 4–5 year programs
- Opportunities to participate in conferences and Foundation activities
- Travel grants for eligible conferences and events
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Not hold Japanese citizenship
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a graduate program in Japan
- Have an enrollment period of more than 12 months
- Have a strong commitment to contributing to their home country after graduation
- Understand the importance of international friendship and exchange
- Have basic Japanese conversation skills
- Not be an undergraduate or non-degree student
- Submit a research plan if enrolled in a professional graduate school
Required Documents
Applicants should prepare:
- Recent passport-style photograph in JPG or GIF format with a maximum size of 500 KB
- A 2-minute video introducing yourself and explaining your research plan
- Official academic transcripts
- Research proposal or research plan
- Recommendation letter
- Admission letter or Letter of Acceptance from a Japanese graduate school, if applicable
Selection Process
The selection process consists of three stages:
- Document Screening
- Interview
- Final Selection
