YBB – Writers from around the world now have the opportunity to take part in the International Writers’ Workshop (IWW) 2027, a prestigious residency program hosted by Hong Kong Baptist University.
Scheduled to take place from 26 February to 25 March 2027 in Hong Kong, the four-week residency will bring together established writers from different countries to exchange ideas, engage in literary discussions, and participate in international literary events. The 2027 edition will explore the theme “Inheritance,” encouraging participants to reflect on cultural, historical, personal, and creative legacies through their work.
About the Program
The International Writers’ Workshop is an annual residency initiative designed to foster cross-cultural dialogue and literary collaboration among writers worldwide.
During the program, participants will stay on campus and take part in a range of activities, including literary gatherings, workshops, public discussions, and an international literary festival. The residency offers a unique environment where writers can connect with fellow authors, share perspectives, and further develop their creative projects.

Program Benefits
Selected participants will receive:
- Round-trip economy-class airfare
- Accommodation at Hong Kong Baptist University for four weeks
- Daily living allowance
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the International Writers’ Workshop 2027, you must:
- Have at least one literary book published by a recognized publishing house
- Reside outside Hong Kong
- Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English or Mandarin to actively participate in program activities (No TOEFL or IELTS score is required)
- Be available to attend the entire residency period
- Please note that self-published books are not eligible for this program.
Responsibilities of Selected Participants
If selected, you will be expected to:
- Attend the full residency from 26 February to 25 March 2027
- Participate in the Welcome Ceremony during the first week
- Join the Literary Festival during the final week
- Share literary work related to the festival theme, “Inheritance,” whenever possible
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare the following documents:
- A one-page Artist’s Statement in English or Mandarin explaining your literary work and reasons for applying
- A one-paragraph English summary if the statement is written in Mandarin
- A recent writing sample of 10–12 pages
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume
- Contact information for two referees, including their email addresses
- All documents should use 12-point font size and one-inch margins
